The Râșnoavei Gorges: this is not a walk, it is a hike

The Râșnoavei Gorges are an important landmark for the outdoor area near Râșnov — but it matters to present them correctly: they are an active experience, not an easy walk. Access, weather, guiding and the level of difficulty all count, so they deserve to be approached with the right preparation.

What the Râșnoavei Gorges are

They are an outdoor area suited to active visitors, to nature photography and to experiences that may include hiking, climbing or guided activities, depending on the operators and the season. They are not a simple trail for every visitor, but a powerful natural setting for people used to mountain paths.

The area is a protected natural reserve and is 5 km from the complex — 10 minutes by car.

Who they suit

We recommend them to active visitors, to couples used to hiking, to groups choosing guided activities, and to photographers.

They are not suitable as a spontaneous activity for unprepared people, for families with very small children, or for guests looking only for a flat, fully laid-out walk — for those, the Sissi Promenade or the short trails are better choices.

Before you set off

For active areas, always check current access, the state of the trails, the weather and the availability of activity operators. Do not set off without up-to-date safety information — conditions change with the season.

Access, activity schedules and any restrictions should be checked on the official website of the Râșnoavei Gorges.

Outdoor, then recovery at MAX

After an active experience in the Gorges, returning to MAX International means a meal, the panoramic terrace and relaxation at the wellness centre — jacuzzi, sauna or massage, with booking. The Gorges connect naturally to the other active experiences in the area: Râșnoavei Cave and the surrounding outdoor trails. See the full entry for the Râșnoavei Gorges in the Local Guide.
