Râșnoavei Cave, in brief: what awaits you

Râșnoavei Cave is an outdoor experience different from the classic tourist sights in Râșnov. Important from the start: it is not the same as Valea Cetății Cave, and it is not an easy walk for every visitor. It is a landmark for active visitors, for responsible exploration, and for those who want less-promoted places.

The difference from Valea Cetății Cave

The two are easy to confuse, but they are different. Valea Cetății Cave is a laid-out sight, easy to fit into a classic day of visits, with organised access. Râșnoavei Cave follows another logic: outdoor, a local niche, requiring attention to access and safety. It is not a mass attraction.

The position differs too: Valea Cetății Cave is 3.5 km from the complex — 6 minutes by car, with a car park at the base. Râșnoavei Cave is in the area of the Râșnoavei Gorges, about 5 km away — 12 minutes by car.

Who it suits

It may suit active people, photographers, nature enthusiasts and guests looking for more authentic places. We do not recommend it as a universal experience for families with small children or for people with reduced mobility. And for the less-marked areas, going with a local guide is often more suitable than exploring on your own.

Part of the lesser-known Râșnov

Râșnoavei Cave connects to other quiet landmarks in the area — Bisericuța Păgânilor, the Cumidava Roman Fort and the Râșnoavei Gorges — for a deeper perspective than the usual tourist route.
